Great news Villagers!

We have updated the Ultimate Werewolf Moderator app with new and improved functionality! The deck building system has been overhauled and follows the deck building rules and the parameters that users define.

The Seer vision system now tells you if the player the Seer selects should appear as a werewolf or not. This helps with Lycans, Wolf Man, werewolves sitting next to The Cloak, and reversed views created by the Illusionist.

There are many interactive tools that will help the moderator organize information quickly and easily! A great example of this is the Mentalist: the app easily shows if 2 selected players are on the same team or on different teams. See the Villager and Werewolf icons are highlighted? The app calls out to the moderator to “show a thumbs down” as they are different teams!

We've created special interfaces for roles that need them like the Ghost, who enters 10 letters after the first night and reveals them 1 at a time each day. What has been the best message you’ve seen a ghost leave?!

Also included are some day phase reminders such as the Mayor, whose vote counts twice, and the Pacifist, who must always vote for players to remain in the game.

One last special feature we've added into the app is for the Wolverine. If the player eliminated by the wolves is closer to the Wolverine than any other wolf, the village "hears" a metallic scraping sound. The moderator app now calculates if the Wolverine is the closest wolf and will make the metallic sound for you if they are.

Moderator App Update

Great news Villagers! While we check in on our App Developers daily, we wanted to give you an Ultimate Werewolf Extreme Moderator App update!

Erik has recently taken the lead on making sure our Ultimate Werewolf Moderator App is performing smoothly and correcting any issues that have popped up. He is one of the newest members of the Bezier Games team and is excited to have made positive progress on the app in the past month he’s been with us.  Let’s see what Erik has been up to!

Over the past month, I’ve been reconstructing the app & improving features. Most notably right now:

• Improved user interface (UI) responsiveness. For example: the buttons on the deck builder no longer feel "finicky" and it's a bit clearer which tab the user is on.
• Improved “Undo” system. Instead of only being able to undo eliminations, this button can also be used to undo marks and other role-specific actions.
• Major restructure with how role-specific rules work within the app. This allows the app to enforce more rules rather than requiring the Moderator to know everything.
• Once this system overhaul is complete, there are a couple additional items I'll be able to focus on 1. Improved card scanning and 2. better user experience (UX) design, you’ll have to wait and see what I have in mind 🤩

Moderator App - New Build & Progress

The Moderator app has been a work in progress,  we are so grateful for the feedback you all have given to help us continue to improve it! 

A lot of feedback has been on scanning errors being encountered while using sleeved cards; we've been using it internally and had pretty good results with the latest build with sleeves. It's possible for some of you that if there is damage to the card or the lighting conditions are poor, scanning errors may still occur. We're trying to figure out what the common factors are still causing problems so we can further improve the algorithm. The more information we have about the configurations that are failing, the better! 

We want to keep getting better and eliminate any issues so please continue to use it and report any errors via email to [email protected]. Please keep an eye out for available updates to make sure you always have the most current build active prior to submitting feedback to ensure we are getting up-to-date bug reports. The more detail you can provide about how it occurred will make analyzing and correcting the issue far easier, so screenshots and screen recording videos are super useful!

We are so pumped to share with you the latest Ultimate Werewolf Extreme App Update!! Our App Developer team have been working incredibly hard to improve the moderator app.

What has improved?

Scanning! We’ve adjusted the scanning behavior when gamers are using protective card sleeves. This helps minimize the effects of glare and various lighting conditions when scanning cards.

It should also be much quicker to scan players into the app to help you run your Ultimate Werewolf Extreme games. Be sure to update today in the app store and be prepared for your next game night!

State of the Moderator App

While most of you should have your games, we are still hard at work on the Ultimate Werewolf Moderator App. You can download and use the existing app from the app stores, and for now we’ve added the suffix “Preview” to it, because there are a few things we’re still working on.

Here are the things that are 100% functional:

Deck building: You can build decks using the app based on a whole bunch of criteria. Be sure to go into options and include “Ultimate Werewolf Extreme” “Ultimate Werewolf Bonus Roles” and “Ultimate Werewolf Pro” before you start building so the app uses all the cards that were included in the Collector’s Edition.

Scanning cards to set up games: Scanning without sleeves works great in most lighting situations (if it’s too dark, tap the torch at the bottom of the screen to turn on your phone’s flashlight). You can scan in player names, cards, and photos quickly by walking around the room to each player.

Playing the game: Once you’ve scanned in cards/names/photos from the players, tapping “start” will walk you through each day and night phase. During the game, you’ll be given prompts related to each of the roles’ actions, where you can mark players who have been targeted, etc., and eliminate them as needed.

A few things that are still works in progress:

Scanning with sleeves: Due to production delays and Covid issues preventing large scale and various settings playtesting, the sleeves that come with the Collector’s Edition have proven to make scanning less consistent and predictable than we’d like. This is our number one priority to address with the app, and our development team is working hard to solve this issue. For now, a quick workaround is to unsleeve the cards when they are scanned (each player can put them right back in the sleeve afterwards).

Not all roles have complete playthrough triggers for their actions: We originally thought that this would be the biggest issue until we found that sleeves were giving people trouble, and we had planned on getting all of the roles their appropriate triggers. That’s on hold until we address the sleeving issue, but we’ll address that as well.

Lots of additional functionality and polish: There are a whole list of things we plan on doing with the app that have been put aside for the time being, such as win conditions, saving various states, more functionality for the timers, and general UI items, until we address the two issues mentioned above. But we’re committed to making this the best Werewolf playing experience possible, and will continue to iterate on the app until we’re satisfied.
